The First HS Conference 2004
An international conference on Human Security was organized in order to celebrate the 10th anniversary and to review the first ten years in HS history. It was hosted by Faculty of Civil Defense (now Faculty of Security studies) University of Belgrade. The Conference gathered about 100 participants, comprising political and public sector representatives, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), the private sector, academia, representatives of the people sector, and the media. It aimed to understand and redefine the place of human security in the international political order, and to analyze the ways in which HS policy responses over the first decade have been (in)effective.
Second International Conference on Human Security (Y20HS – November 7/8, 2014) was an academic event that gathered scholars and practitioners from human security area, with the goal of re-examining the 20-year period of human security concept, with special focus on new theoretical discourses and dominant practices in their implementation. The Conference was the 10-years follow-up event, after the first International Conference “Human Security – 10 Years Later” organized by the Faculty of Civil Defence (predecessor of the Faculty of Security Studies) in 2004.
Starting from this year, the International Academic HS Conference will become a biannual event. The 3rd edition of the Conference will take place in Belgrade, 4-5 November 2016.
